Boston Initiative works to advance state and federal policy related to the human trafficking industry with the intention of providing protection for victims and accountability for those involved in trafficking and exploitation of women, and young girls.
BITAHR engages the public in advocacy efforts encouraging individuals to reach out to their local government officials in support of legislation surrounding the issue of human trafficking. Most recently BITAHR in collaboration with local anti-trafficking organizations, House Judiciary Committee O'Flaherty and Senator Montigny celebrated a victory with the signing into law of the Massachusetts state legislation that criminalizes human trafficking. The legislation makes trafficking a punishable offense and provides a civil remedy for victims to sue their perpetrators. See below for link to full legislation.
